Inca Trail Tours Machu Picchu

The Inca Trail trek is the most famous hike in the world, the four-day Inca Trail trek, is hiked by thousands every year. Although the total distance is only about 26 miles, the ancient trail laid by the Incas from the Sacred Valley of the Incas to Machu Picchu winds its way up and down and around the spectacular Andean  mountains, snaking over three high Andean passes en route, which have collectively led to the route being dubbed ‘the Inca Trial.’ The views of snowy mountain peaks, distant rivers and ranges, and cloud forests flush with orchids are stupendous – and walking from one cliff-hugging pre-Columbian ruin to the next is a magical and unforgettable experience.

Inca Trail Trekking 2020

Travellers planning to visit Machu Picchu via the legendary Inca Trail trek next year are being urged to book their trip this year, or risk losing out due to a change in the way permits are distributed.

The number of visitors allowed to tackle the four-day Classic Inca Trail trek to the ancient citadel in Peru is limited to 500 per day, with permits bookable only through tour operators, and often sold out 9 months in advance.

The annual permit quota is usually released in December and January, with travel agents scrambling to secure their clients’ places on a first-come-first-served basis. However, it has been revealed that the 2020 permits will go on sale on October 1, 2019. Three months in advance, sparking concern that those unaware could be caught out.
