The Inca Trail trek is the most famous hike in the world, the four-day Inca Trail trek, is hiked by thousands every year. Although the total distance is only about 26 miles, the ancient trail laid by the Incas from the Sacred Valley of the Incas to Machu Picchu winds its way up and down and around the spectacular Andean mountains, snaking over three high Andean passes en route, which have collectively led to the route being dubbed ‘the Inca Trial.’ The views of snowy mountain peaks, distant rivers and ranges, and cloud forests flush with orchids are stupendous – and walking from one cliff-hugging pre-Columbian ruin to the next is a magical and unforgettable experience.
Along this short 2 day Inca Trail trek you will explore the land of the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the Andean Mountains. On your journey to Mach Picchu, you will walk along the same trails as the Incans did years ago and visiting numerous Inca Ruins.
In the popular 4 day Classic Inca Trail trek you journey from the Andean forest to high jungle, through cloud forest to the alpine tundra. Throughout, you learn about the history and culture of the Incas exploring settlements, tunnels, sacred sites, and numerous Incan Ruins.
Our 5 day inca trail expedition to Machu Picchu is an excellent option for those seeking a more tranquil experience, avoiding crowds found more commonly on the traditional 4 day classic inca trail trek.
On our 6 day Salkantay and Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu you will visit numerous Inca ruins and enjoy the magnificent views of the Salkantay Mountain, walking through the amazing Inca sites: Paucarcancha, Phuyupatamarca, Sayacmarca, Wiñaywayna and others.
Travellers planning to visit Machu Picchu via the legendary Inca Trail trek next year are being urged to book their trip this year, or risk losing out due to a change in the way permits are distributed.
The number of visitors allowed to tackle the four-day Classic Inca Trail trek to the ancient citadel in Peru is limited to 500 per day, with permits bookable only through tour operators, and often sold out 9 months in advance.
The annual permit quota is usually released in December and January, with travel agents scrambling to secure their clients’ places on a first-come-first-served basis. However, it has been revealed that the 2018 permits will go on sale on October 1, 2017. Three months in advance, sparking concern that those unaware could be caught out.
After Machu Picchu, the multicolored landscape of Vinicunca or ‘Rainbow’ mountain is one of the most striking vistas in the whole of Peru and is rightfully high on the ‘must see’ list for most travelers.
One of the 20 Best Hiking trails in the world, according to National Geographic.
