As you may already know, the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is one of the most popular treks in Peru. Reserving a spot can be difficult and must be booked 5-6 months in advance if not longer. You have many options for tickets when arranging your Machu Picchu Travel so its important to know what you want to do before you make your purchase.
Machu Picchu ticket:
A lot of people don´t have a lot of time to spend in Peru so they purchase just the Machu Picchu ticket. The Machu Picchu ticket is good for your entry into Machu Picchu park and that is it. You have the option to hike up to the Inca Sungate or to the Inca bridge. If you would like to hike up to Wayna Picchu or Montaña an additional ticket is required and must be purchased in advance.
Ticket for Machu Picchu plus Wayna Picchu or Montaña:
If you enjoy hiking and would like to make the most of your Machu Picchu Experience, you might want to explore either Wayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Montaña. Both of these hikes require a seperate ticket in addition to your Machu Picchu ticket and must be booked prior to your visit.
Inca Trail to Machu Picchu:
Most people coming to Peru are looking to trek the very popular and beautiful Inca Trail. There are only 500 positions available for the Classic 4 Dyas Inca Trail so booking many months in advance is necessary. Once your spot is reserved for the Inca Trail, your ticket automatically grants you entry into Machu Picchu park. However, if you would like to hike either Wayna Picchu or Montaña, an additional ticket will need to be purchased. Your ticket for Machu Picchu is just for the main part of Machu Picchu unless you purchase the other options with the ticket for Machu Picchu.
